Kelly:

This is soooo..... yellow. And I think that's why it works for me. The leaves, both on the trees and on the ground, serve perfectly in complimenting the buses, a hard subject to even comtemplate taking a picture of.

Kelly,

I am attaching a fix I did, I leveled out the lighting and tried to bring out some detail in the dark areas.

This is a nice capture of the children I like people images. On my image Hail Falling I use a 1st sync flash and the shutter speed was at 1/60 sec.

Hi Kelly, Chicago is a hard town to photograph as I have tried...but you do have to get those early morning or late evening shots. up to 2 hours before sunset or 2 hours after sunrise is best. With angle you are shooting at here the sun would be just about right. I love Chicago and so does my wife who is from the UK. Now keep trying to capture this image at different times of the day. and also try some night shots about one hour after the sun sets...there is a magical blue light that will appear when there is little or no clouds in the sky and sometimes you can get a nice magenta glow at the horizon too!!! Good luck and show us what you capture. Thanks for you comment on my light house too!!

This is a very nice picture. I like the composition, even if i wish i could see more of the kids and the expression on her face.

I love how the color of the leaves echo the color of the busses. Very nice symphony in yellow!

I love these buildings, they are one of the american symbols for me, it?s a pity if this tradition is forgotten. The shot is very sharp and well framed, also I am surprised by the pepsi machine, very funny and useful too! You could remove the antiaesthetic electric cables and maybe increase a little the colours saturation or the contrast, in any case it?s a very nice pic. Bye Max

Kelly,

Nice shot of downtown. I like the composition you choose here. I think I would brighten the river part a bit more as your losing detail there. Overall this is a nice shot.

As far as my going digital.. Humm something about ripping the film from my dead fingers comes to mind? just kidding? Actually when the cost of digital justifies the switch then I will. As of now it?s not cost effective for the switch, the cheapest digital camera that will equal what I am doing with film is well over 2k and I can shoot a lot of film for that amount. Since I develop my own film it cost me pennies to shoot film so digital is not there yet.

Kelly

What a great shot! Everything is told in the photo and then you capture the casualness of the firemen as they cluster in discussions. I disagree about the overexposure of the outside view, I think it gives depth as well as a stark reality.

And someone asked how you managed to get inside. My guess is that either it was your house or you are on the FD. I hope it is the latter.

Thanks so much for your comments on my "wheels" exhibition. Glad you liked it.

a good family candid...color is good and lighting is excellent...might consider a tighter crop taking out the extended arm on the left and the plaid on the right...leave the focus on the two young ones...Have a great 2004!

Thanks for your recent comment on my work, I think the photo you commented on is a little out of focus. But could you tell me how to sharpen it whit PS, I'am a total PS no-brain and wouldn't know how to do that.
An excellent sky you cought here, it's beautifull; the soft orange colors and al the little clouds; nice. I do think you should crop away some of the black lower part. Or next time when your in a situation like this photograph a single tree, or higher up the tree.
Just some sugestions, Greets Tim.

Nice! I like the angle you captured this at and also good lighting. Yes I like my camera.
I only have the thr 18-55 lense at this time. I have had my camera for 20 days. I was using a Fuji 2800Z point & shoot for the past 2 years. The Rebel takes a bit of time to get used to. I have been shooting most of my shots in manual mode. I have learned a lot
in the past 20 days about this camera. I want to get the 50mm lense and also a Zoom lense.
What lense are you using besides the 18-55. Happy Holidays to you & your family also.

Kelly, I love this shot, and the cloudy sky tbat so much says winter and Christmas. My Grrandfather and his Father were both railroad men, so trains are special. And yes, I absolutely adore my Rebel! I cannot imagine myself without it!! The Merriest Christmas ever to you, anddon't go anywhere without your camera!! Regards.

Kel,
(geesh---I am being a pain aren't I???)
Good...forget all that barrel-tool-distortion whatever stuff...just drop the crop to nip off the upper corner of the building. Photo rule #1---Fill the frame with your subject. Jolly Time...yeah........good eatin'...

And you got it! That "Kicking Back" pic I posted? Me resting in the cemetery...and them "resting" forever...you got it. The joke and all...good eye/ear...you are a sharp babe.

Kel,
I like this a lot!!!!
Crop it very narrow...since the buses are the focus...and they jump out at us, crop it really tight and show just the buses (with that tree break) Black and yellow-black and yellow---...good stuff!
As for the Nikon...hmmm, I am just sooooooooooo lazy that way. I guess I should "care" more about the charisma points. It is a coolpix 4500. Digital. I will fill in the rest of the fields in the future. After all, I guess it is NOT always about me...kekekekekekekek
