Thank you for your comment. I can only assume the color is as a reesult of the combinations of light: partial shade, overcast skies and flash.

Thanks, Dave, for your comment. I used an ISO of 400 with a fill-in flas. I was about 15 ft from the bird, had the power setting of the flash on high, I used x 2X tele-extender.As you can see from the shadow, thge subject was back lit.

I appreciate your comments and have viewed your site. It is a very nice complement coming from one with talant.

These birds seem to flit from one place to another, but if one studies them, you find they are creatuires of habit and follow a pattern in their search for food. I just waited until he/she came to me, so to speak.

Thanks, Bob

Great shot... I always love Sanibel. One of the best places to go shell hunting. Many, many shells are washed up o the beaches.

Sometimes birds will even hold their wings outstretched, as if they are trying to dry them. This is something known as canopy feeding and casts a larger, more realistic tree shadow. It is one of over 30 types of feeding behaviors that ornithologists have observed in waders. One tropical species, the black heron, takes the technique to the extreme by folding its wings completely over its head like an umbrella while it hunches down and waits for fishes.

Thanks for your comments; however, according to persons at the University of Florida, birds of this sort do shade the waters for the purpose of better visibility. A moment after this shot was taken, the bird snatched his prey.

Thanks again, Bob
