This is photography! i can't believe 12 members before me viewed and couldn't be bothered to leave a comment...hopefully they are not the type to walk by Gloria without as much as a hell'o... Congrats for your series idea and this first image conveys what is important...any of us could be in her position at any point in our lives... Great composing and i like her position within the framing... I wanted to do similar for a book in the style of Dorothea Lange, but recently found out there are several already out there and i couldn't afford to travel as much as i wanted to.. i will keep an eye out for others in your series regards, gayle

ok,i just did a quick scan of most of your floral images and the comments...nobody says anything about your tendency to center most,if not all,of your flowers which often puts them in the "just another floral image" category...don't get me wrong, the colors, dof and techs seem pretty good for most, but composing can make a big difference...are ya wishing me bad things right now?...LOL...hope you are open to honest crits...photo-art is very subjective and i can only comment about what i like, but traditional shots leave more room for crits..
This flower has gorgeous deep purple color and contrasts very well with the BG color...i love the light, dof and that it has a 3-D look...lacks sharp focus,as you already mention, and the placement within the framing is too centered...
regards,gayle

hi there, finally returning after 2 wks. of absence and have much to catch up on...makes me proud to see such a magical shot of what we Native Americans call, Mt.Tahoma, which means "the great mountain, which gives thunder and lightning, having great unseen powers" ...the colors glow and i especially like the halo effect of the cloud formations...good perspective to take in the textural terrain and the reflections...i am not a big fan of overly saturated landscapes/sky,but i don't put this image in that category because i see the saturation level as more gentle and gives a poetic feel to the image...reminds me of the light one sees after a rain when the rainbow appears...the light is the key element here IMHO Glad you had a great trip to my neck of the woods,Hugo......regards,gayle
