Very cool shot. Don't let Dick Cheney know about this spot though.

Good to see you back posting, thumbnail and even larger size threw me, looked like large bluffs with some unusuall rock formations, you capture interesting nature scenes.

Hugo,
Yes the Mtn Dew is too soft, I was handholding the camera and the light was going quickly,... was travelling to my parents (7 hour trip) with two pre teen girls and was racing to get some shots of spectacular rainbow and late evening light, this I think was my last shot that evening, the contrast of the orange sky and neon green Dew bottle caught my eye . I will have time someday to get the tripod out and do things properly, but often my shots are taken between sales calls, walks with the dog and quick moments when I get lucky and the light is with me.
You are a good critic, I have read some of your comments on other photos in cc and you usually say what I would say... thus saving me the typing. Thanks. LD

David,
I don't mean to dump on you, this critique is aimed more the choices the "staff", whoever they may be, seem to make for their awards. This photo does nothing for me, like modern art where the canvas is all black except for a line of lighter black... minimalist art ain't my thing, but your photo titled winter, to me is much more effective or the one titled "***" (huh) at least there is something to relate too and makes the vastness of the sky more effective. But for this to be a best in project for patterns in nature, wouldn't it help to have a pattern and some nature...

I think this is a cut above architectural shot, like the tone and contrast is gradual, the one hot spot of sun reflection draws your eye back to the building, the angle is neat and you either used wise dof or blurring to make you know its a sky in the back, but doesn't detract from the building. Close to the perfect shot.

Excellent composition and use of sky to make this seem like sky and building are one. The light flares/squares on the building and in upper right are only negs on otherwise great shot.

I scanned this from a slide which is saved in tif file format, so I expand resolution on the file to convert it to a jpeg file of decent size. I could kick myself for scanning my slides in a low rez because it either comes out too small or gets grainy from the conversion. Whew, long story longer, glad you liked the texture, however it was sorta unintentional.

Good comments, I posted here to see what reactions I get to a pretty abstract photo and see if too much white space at bottom would be an issue. Didn't crop or blow up the shot, pretty close to what I originally took, may be soft due to high ISO setting, it was overcast winter day with medium light. I have posted a trimmed version and took your advise on trees filling more of the frame. Thanks.

Very ice... er very nice, love the curves of the leaves alternating down the branch. To really make this a strong image you could "clone" out the background in the lower right.

Dave,
All photoshop, and no I haven't found a way to fit 35mm film into the memory slot yet, I get sloppy at times with the info they require, find the newer format a little clumbersome, having to put in Lexar 1 GB under their film category, whats the point.
