Hi Dave,
while I'm not so into the military stuff, this one is a well deserved award-winning contribution to the blurry image project. the widescreeen format fits very well to the subject, and the three different mechanics (love the third one in the back) add some human elements to this technical-dominated scene. hey, these tools look like professional stuff ;-)
great work. Cheers, Thilo

A real triumph over adverse conditions in this one, Dave. The composition, balance and framing are all spot on. There's a great sense of place; I feel as if I'm really there in the situation. Your capture of the helicopter's motion (slight motion blur) is perfect, a nice contrast to the terrific depth of field that makes everything else so sharp, from the woman machinist to the mast.

OK at least you can strut your stuff as the image maker without too many "coporate" constraints..Always a dilemma I gues for a contracted image maker... I used to do a fair bit of work for the mining industry and the shots used to all have to be environmentally kosher safety aware etc etc.. It used to be a bit like that old saying keep your eye on the ball your shoulder to the wheel your nose to the grindstone ..now try and work in this position!!

You can just see the exhaustion-esp. with the expression on the guy's face in the middle-in the eyes. I too like the fact that you included the plane. There is also a lot of great detail in the hands of the guy on the left-you can tell that he has been working hard-by the way he has placed his hands-it looks as if he barely has any energy left at all. You've even managed to obtain great texture on the ground they are sitting on. Wonderful shot, sorry if I rambled on too much.

Dave, this is a really cool shot! I love the low and wide angle of the shot, it is perfect. You lucky dog you, to have gotten this one. Are you in the navy, or do you just know the right people? I spent four years in the navy myself, would love to be able to go haze gray and underway and get some photo's like these myself. Once again, great shot. Jim Gamble
