Super shot, professional lighting and pose, and the selective use of colour really works.

Alison, buy a grey graduate filter (Cokin is the most popular manufacturer) and simply hold it in front of the lens when taking, especially with landscapes where the light difference between for and background can be too much. People often think that blown highlights can be rescued by PhotoShop, but that's simply not true. They're cheap to buy, and well worth it.

Very cool idea, Samsung will be in touch shortly to get advertising rights!

Again, great eye for detail and composition. I like the diagonal created and the division between light & dark split by colour.

Great portrait, nicely composed, cropping right in.

Hi Alison,

The model is my sister, took it when I was visiting the family in South Africa, in an old wreaked house on the coast. Contrast was high, so the sea background was lost in the highlights. Yep, I haven't been posting lately, my circumstances are changing, but I hope to be able to start again soon, and with some good, creative stuff!

Love the freshness to this, and the colour and composition, really packs a punch.

Yep, I like tunnel shots too, though I'm usually the driver, which makes them a little dangerous, but hey! Well done with this one, really like the greys and muted colours, the sense of vibration. Shutter speed around 1/8th or so?

Alison, I reckon that this is your finest work yet, and I'm not only referring to this shot. Wow, the exposure is right on the nail, retaining lowlight detail and colour, while really bringing out the blue of the sky. The way you've framed this shot with the trees left right and below is suberb. I'd have liked to have seen a shot with a tiny bit more sky at the top, to contain the thrust of the flower. Lovely image totally open to interpretation.

Amazing scene, can't make out if it's rock or snow. Nice!

Strong image, I love the sun in the sky and on the water, blues are very intense.

Classic landscape shot, good foreground interest, the eye has plenty to keep itself amused! You've done very well with the exposure, considering the highlights.

More than nice, amazing scene, very surreal. Stong fore- and background detail, you did well with the contrast, well done!

I really like the sense of movement you've created here, the shimmering lighting and the vignette affect add mystery. Pity about the dust in the lower frame, it distracts the eye. Great photo.

Man, this shot is good, you've really exposed for the colours of the scene and the framing with the tree is spot on. I even like the fact that there's no one sitting on the bench.

Wow, holes in the clouds! Really powerful image, the low tones really allow the light rays to show. If you want to adjust contrast, I suggest trying curves (Image/adjust/curves)and play around by dragging the graph into an s shape, or Image/adjust/levels, where you drag the slider to make pure blacks or whites in the high and lowlights. Quite effective. Been away moving house and now stripping walls etc. You've been very busy! When I get the chance I'm going to take a good look at some of your new ones, thumbnails are stunning.

Very dramatic, it had a reticulated and solarised feel to it. Been away moving house and now decorating, you been busy! Nice work. The british band Muse? They rock.

Alison, you've got such a great eye for colour and pattern. The quote is particularly apt, considering that this was taken in shade? The metalic sheen of lizard skin.

Scary shot. Looks like the neg has undergone reticulation. The burning in of the toes has created the impression of webbed feet. Can see the impression on the skin where the model was wearing socks.
