It is a magnificent staircase, and I like your bottom-to-top approach (I have seen a few photos of it from the top).

A more even spread of people might have helped.

You'd need to ask a better educated man than me! It's St. Peter's Basilica, but the guide books all refer to it as the largest church in the world. I would imagine the main differnce is something along the lines of who actually presides over services, but that's nothing more than a guess. Cheers for the comment Ade.

lovely lighting and leading lines.

just one thing - what's the difference between a Basilica, a church and a cathedral?

Interesting. I think you could improve this with some cropping. You can either crop from the bottom up to just below the cars or crop down from the top to leave at least an inch over the tops of the buildings. Might have a little more impact that way. Don.

I agree with Petal 100%. I like the choice of the longer focal length so the stairs get compressed. Very disorienting and very effective. Keep up the good work!

Excellent shot Bruce. I don't think there's any reason to fear using higher ISO's with digital these days. D70 is a superb bit of kit & even at iso 800 you can get more than acceptable results if you use NeatImage or Noiseware in postwork. Looks like you have a good lens at 2.8 so losing 2 stops shouldn't be a handicap. Worth experimenting with all ISO's. I've taken a couple of shots at ISO 3200 with 20D and although the noise is very high the results simply would not have been achievable using comparable film.

Look forward to some shots of England ..er... winning... the Ashes!!

Cheers,
Steve.

Cheers for that I appreciate it. I've got a dozen cricket shots up, 6 from this match. It's a bit hit and miss (I'm groaning myself at that!) but there a few reasonable ones in there. Think 'Richard clinton 2' is probably my favourite from this match.

Hi bruce,
Very nice Cricket composition . Action packed . Perfect timing . I once saw Rahul Dravid (India) being bowled by Shoaib Akhtar (Pakistan) in similar manner .

Must be the first cricket shot I've seen for ages! Brown helmet? Not sure about that.

As for the shot...

captures the essece of a fallen cricket wicket perfectly - the abject misery of the batsman, the group celebration of the fileding side ad youve' even got the score card in.

Even an american could follow this one, it's THAT good.

hope you get lots of feedback as it deserves it.
