Hi Shane

The distortion on the rails and the space and color above them are wonderful...to be left alone..

Cheers

Thanks for your thoughts Hugo.

This is where the original idea came from, taken a few years ago on a Casio Exilim (2.0mp!) Anyway I knew I would have to reshoot at this time of year because the area where the sun set was perfectly illuminated. The whole idea was to frame the headland with the railing with a winter sunset.

Rgds,
Shane

Hi Shane, I like these "planned" shots, and the way such an idea evolves to (sometimes) a different image than you had in mind at first. The distortion in the fence is a nice touch, as for me it expresses the wideness of the scene. Also, the fence creates a good framing in the foreground, and I like the gradient in the sky. The only thing that could've even pushed the impact of this photo would require a bit of luck: A more prominet pattern of clouds in the sky. The gradient, however is super, and I like the saturation. Good shot!

Cheers,

Hugo

Lovely stuff Kid. Terrific clarity. This would only work as a silouette- unless you've got other ideas... And I'm sure it's no accident that you got 3 other "mini" pics in there, naturally framed by the railings. The two couples walking and the three pillars that we know as "the Metal Man". Am I right? Go out there sometime and see what you get. Larry

Yep, I agree about the exposure, it is very well captured. I can't work out why the railing posts are so converged yet you only used a 50mm lens?

Very pretty photograph Shane, I am glad that you captured the railings and that beautiful sky along with the silky water in the middle.

Very nice image Shane. The railing adds a lot of atmosphere and interest but over and above that the shot is beautifully exposed.

Again I Looked at this for a long time. Makes ya kinda thirsty. No doubt its a very good piece of work. The dof and clarity of the bubbles are brilliant BUT ( of course! ) The white nothings in both bottom corners spoil it for me. Pride alone must make you do it again? Larry

Hi Shane,

Very creative set up. A showcase expample that you don't need strobes or a studio to create these professional looking effects. Very dynamic photo, very well handled. Also the relatively slow shutter adds alot to the feel of motion; I can almost hear it fizz... Great shot!

Cheers,

Hugo

Very cool lighting and coloring. I think the top half of the image is the most interesting part. I think it could stand on its own actually. Very nice alternate perspective.

Congratulations, and very moving image, Shane! It reminds me of WorldPhotoDay, an annual event where photographers from all over the world record one moment in their country/city on that day. There is a website dedicate to this event. I live in a city with many homes for the elderly, and this is the kind of picture I had in mind, only I didn't have access inside such a place. That's why this image impressed me so much, and I thank you for sharing it, Ina
