wow isnt it amazing that apart from your image being colour is exactly the same as Carlton E Watkins photo taken in 1866.. were the footprints and tripod mark still in the dust?? I think his may have been tad sharper with an 8X10 view camera tho he would have been able to stop down to F64 probably

you're right, Mark.
Yosemite is much like the Grand Canyon: no photo gives you the same awesome perspective you get just...standing there!

Great shot!!

Almost perfect on this shot, Mark.
(Just a tiny bit overexposed on the cloud).

This is such a massive natural monument, that even at 10,000 overhead in an airliner, it is STILL an impressive sight!!

Mark,

The other phases are more interesting as shadows add to the contrast of the subject, so don't just wait for a full moon. Shoot the other phases as well. At worst, it'll give you practice for those full moons...

Taras - thanks for your comments - I did use a tripod but should have set the camera to 100 instead of 800 ISO - watching for another full moon - take care.

Mark,

If you did not use one, a tripod could help to get that last bit of detail. Also, autofocus may have a difficult time focusing on the moon, it is best to confirm manually.
