Well seen. Love the minimalist approach. Good use of negative space.

Marlene,
Its good to hear from you. Thanks for the kind words. Its one of my favorite photos, too. I'm about to hang it in my new home. I'll email you with more info.

This was an ill fated attempt of mine ... I had seen the work of a photographer who took street / city scenes, and made them look even more interesting by increasing the contrast in a way that created stark and harsh lighting to the point of washing out sections of the image. Not well executed on my part, however. Thanks for looking, and commenting.

I think the rice terrace images you posted a year or so ago, are some of your best work. I hope you are equally successful this time around. Best of luck, and safe travels.

James,
Very interesting. The picture has a surreal aurea about it.
I have no knowledge of HDR. Will look at the link and try to learn. I hope you are enjoying your travel time.

James,
Absolutely stunning! The overview of your entire trip sounds fantastic. The region is one that I have longed to visit.
Great photos, and I am glad you are well.

Beautiful work.
I like the angular movement (bottom left to top right).
Also, the textures you have captured take on the appearance of a pastel drawing.

James,
On the right side of image is in fact a giant door. It seems to me the door itself was about 12 feet tall, and there was another 5 or 6 feet above it of stationary glass. Quite weird and quite interesting.
I hope all is well with you my friend. Best regards,
Mark

Great shot ... and congrats on being donor of the day. I know you have this in the critique corner, but there is little to be said in the way of criticism ... its extremely well seen, well composed, and very effective use of the selective coloration. Applying the technique here acts to quiet down an otherwise frenetic scene, in a way that causes one to look more closely and appreciate all that's in the image.

Wonderful detail I feel as if I could reach out and feel the peeling paint, and rusty metal latches.

Ina, Congrats on the BIP.
Love the image ... I can say I have been to Rhyolite, and seen the glass house, but was not able to capture it anywhere nearly as well as you did. Wonderful! Mark

Marian, I like your choice of using a panoramic shape for this image. It makes the picture more interesting. I don't know what is going on beyond the chain link and grille, but the white lines and red shapes, give the image the appearance of sparks and movement which adds tremendously to the entire mood and effect. Very well done. Congrats.

Nice abstract, cityscape. Very appealing image.
The sky looks over-saturated, however. Perhaps, it could benefit from a minor adjustment in PhotoShop.
Lovely image.

Lovely image ... stunning in its simplicity, and so precise in its execution. Into my favorites!
Congratulations on the BIP award as well. Very justly deserved.

Todd, I'll try to get some of those photos posted over the next few days. Japan was great ... my photos were not so great. I'll see what I can dig up for you. I'm sure you'll have a blast. Where will you be going? I spent most of my time in Kyoto.
Can we still get together in MN for a day of street photography before you move? What might work for you schedule wise?

Joe, nicely composed.. I like the way the timbers in the foregoround are angled, and running roughly parallel to the opposing shorelines, creating an almost diamond-like shape to the water area. The intense colors of the sky reflected in the water is very appealing. Though, I think I understand Doyle's comment, that adding a little more color saturation to the sky itself might add a nice backdrop to the entire image.
Very nicely done. Congrats.

I hate to be repititous, but once again I think this so well composed. Also, the increased saturation which draws out and slightly exaggerates the colors, adds to the visual interest.

This so perfectly framed / composed - with the awning overhead, and the sign down the left hand edge. Really wonderful.

I truly like the way you made the image appear flat. It kind of looks like a wood block print, rather than a photo. Nicely done. Congrats.

Absolutely love it. Great wide angle, of an every day situation, which you display in an interesting an unusual manner. The touch of reddish glow in the right foreground, and the touch of blue in the left foreground nicely "colorize" and otherwise neutral image. Very, very, well done.

This image is afeast for the eyes ... and the ears! I can just hear the sounds of the boats thudding as they bump into one another, and the water splashing as they paddle through the market, with voices from the buyers and sellers, calling out above the din. Very nice!

The crystal clarity is terrific, with added depth from the various reflections. By shooting inside (a hotel lobby?), and presumably without a flash, the prominent color is a "honey tone" that adds a lot of warmth. Very well done.
