Thanks Doyle,

I may have lost some of the detail around the white hot spot when I scanned the negative. But the center was still white. I can't remember if it was like that in person.
Thanks for the CC
John

True enough about the white Rusty . . . but what can you do, eh? I like the overall composition of the shot and can appreciate the difficulty of exposure due to the rang in lighting . . . but it looks like you pulled it off pretty good. The depth is great and . . . ummmm . . . since this IS a CC image the only thought that comes to mind is that the white hot accent is dead center which would not have been my first choice. I DO like the verticals and horizontals in the image, particulary with that not quite horizontal line from his hand to the flame . . . a great mix. All in all, I think a pretty gosh darn good shot. :)

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

I think it just needed to correct for the color-cast, John (like this)

Nice portrait of a mallard, although I think I would crop it a bit and put the duck at the upper or lower 1/3 line rather than dead center.

The color is great indeed, John. Capturing sunsrise-sunset can be tricky at times specially avoiding flares. sometimes the filter you are using can actually cause the flare. remove it and see the result. or you just need to move to another angle/location. Cheers Art

lovely capture well done yeah just a little dark but you can allways turn up the light in your photo shot after you have scaned it and it dont matter how big you scan it you can change all that in your photo shop to make it smaller so you can post it.

Hi. Since it is the sunset you were after, why take so much ground in the frame, with the horizon in the middle of the picture? I would prefer the horizon to be about on the lower 1/3 of the frame, that way the sky and the sunset itself would get full attention (just cover the lower part of the picture with your hand or some piece of paper, leaving a small line of snow below the trees and see what happens...).

I like the angle at which you took this picture, It gives a lot of depth to the photo. The lighting and colr are great and horseback sounds like a great way to get some good shot. Alison

The grain is from the scanner I think, I am having difficulities getting smooth scans from negatives. Slides come out great, The waterfalls in my portfolio are from slides. The 4x6 print of this photo is real smooth, I think I am going to have it enlarged to see if any grain appears.
Thanks for the comment

Nice shot, maybe a bit grainy; or was it the intention to let it be grainy. Anyhow i like the colours!

nice waterfall shot, I know it is a lil bit of a challenge to capture waterfall images due to the contrasting exposure between the waterfall and the surrounding and, a stable tripod is a must ......

BTW, nice shot u got there!
