Oh, Alejandra, this is a lovely floral image! The black background really sets it off! Well done!

Cheers

Thanks for the comment, James. I have a couple of tiki torches in my yard and I took a picture of one of the flames. Getting the exposure just so was the fun part.

Good luck with experiments with fire. Nice way to begin. How did you create the flame?

Alejandra, you should have converted this image to RGB before posting.
Some further adjustment with the levels or curve command would also give this a better tonal range.

I really like what you've done here. The abstract cubes make an interesting image, particularly in the way you positioned them in the frame. On my monitor, the upper left part of the image is really dark...almost loses all of the detail. Not sure if it is that way for others.

Really wonderful composition, and great way to represent the artist's work.

I think the shadow doesn't detract andadds a darker texture to the back of the flower. I think this works well in B&W and the lighting is effective to convey a subtle feeling.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Roger,

The underground railroad was not really "underground" or a "railroad". The UR was a highly secret network or paths, homes and hiding places that escaped slaves would use to get north to freedom. This part of the UR was by Sandy Spring- a quaker community that helped the slaves with places to hide, etc. It's actually pretty interesting- I can't explain it very well, but here's a link that will help-

This portrait reminds me of our little Taffy which was the best little dog of all. You have captured the beauty of this little blond Cocker. Great B/W. Anson

Alejandra, Overall I think you have a nice image and to me the only thing I feel it needs is a slight increase in exposure. It appears slightly dark but this could be due to differences in monitors, etc. You nailed the sharpness I think and the b/w worked well with this subject. Dwight
