Very funny Kes :) Not as rare as you might think if you do a google search for fighting wild turkeys.
I was watching this two for a while and they were getting down right vicious. They don't fight to the death though.

I liked the snow falling too. I thought it kind of added another dimension to the image. This was taken just before the snow got too heavy.

When I first came across them in the woods there was another hiker watching them. She was wondering if we should try and separate them. I told her that she should leave them alone because it looked like some kind of mating ritual that they were going through. I got a lot of great pictures of the scrap. Later, I read about it on the net. It seems it is a similar thing to what Deer , Mountain Goats and Caribou do during mating season, They don't fight to the death, but the winner gets the ladies :)

Thanks Barbara for the nice comment about this series of images. I had the idea for this when I was trying to decide what to do for a "triptych" contest for an outdoor photography magazine.
Yes, these beautiful birds are always a joy to photograph. There are two ways it can go while shooting them. They either except you being near, or they disappear under water.
