Gaja,

Thanks very much for your comment.

Yes, I too have had that problem many times, especially in reflection pictures and sunrise and sunset pictures.

So I recently bought and used a 2 stop graduated neutral density filter (from http://2filter.com) in this picture to even the exposure. It is basically a half ND and half clear filter that reduces the light reaching the lens in one half side and allowing full light in the other part. I find this filter indispensible especially for landscape photography.

You may be able to emulate the graduated neutral density filter effect by combining two pictures - one exposed for the reflection and the other exposed for the upper part - using a good photo editing software. But that is a lot of work, and I am not so much versed in photo editing. So to me, the filter works out better.

If you want to buy this filter, I suggest not to buy a round filter as it allows very less flexibility in the composition. Instead, buy a square filter that could be attached to a cokin filter holder and adapter, as the square filter allows you to move the ND part of the filter up and down to align it with the horizon. The cokin filter itself is a not a true neutral filter; it is a gray neutral density filter. So you may want to buy more expensive brands like hitech GND filter (or much more expensive ones like Singh-Ray or Lee filters). I also suggest P type (as opposed to the A type) as it allows the filter to be fit with various sized lens by just changing the adapter ring.

Hope this helps :-)

wow, what colors and clarity. It's amazing that the reflection isn't any darker than the mountains. I never know what to do in these situations because I want to include both the view and the reflection, but that usually means splitting the image in half, which is supposed to be a no-no. I don't think it bothers me here. great work.

Hello Senthil, nice composition & the reflection of the falls. My only comment for this is the top portion grass which I find distracting, I believe the composition will be much more effective without it, secondly this would look equally good converted to grayscale. Other than that great shot, best wishes & cheers.

Great reflection and landscape. It may just be me but the horizon seems a bit tilted to the right. Still a great capture - nice work!

Awesome composition and love the use lighting and textures around the flowers and stems. Like the perspective too. Of course, no need to say about the colors, poppies are so lovely.

Great job. You have a nice collection of pictures.
