Beautiful picture, Van. About 100 years ago when I was your age, I took a very similar shot that I prized. Yours is every bit as memorable, and the pink tones are really splendid.

Regards,
--George

A suggestion--get the best tripod you can afford. You'll be glad you did!

George. yea I needed a tripod, alias I need to buy one. But When I took this it was pitch black so I think it did pretty well. It is pretty small though. Your Picture is very nice I like it alot. Thanks for taking a swing at it.

Ok Van here is my attempt. I did the correction in Photoshop CS. Used Image, Adjustments, Shadow/Highlight and put the scales at 75. I then gave it a greenish tone using Layers/Color Balance (a little red, green and minus on yellow).

Oh, yeah, it's very dark! Still, it is an interesting image. I've tweaked it a bit, but the image file itself is quite small and impossible (for me, at least) to provide any good detail. You don't give any shutter/aperture/iso information. My guess is you were pushing the envelope a bit too much. Without using a flash, you needed a tripod at least. Keep at it . . . !!!

Cheers,
--George

Just wanted to add this to my orginal picture. My Good Buddy Dottie took this picture and tinkered with it and I liked the effect so I'm posting her picture along with mine to show a different prospective that I really did love!

Very nice candid street shot. The lighting and colors are good, and you caught enough action to keep it interesting.

Hmmm, I think the hand is not a distraction at all, I think it adds to the casual feel of the photo, but different strokes for different folks. Dottie

Welcome to usefilm!...technically i am not back to usefilm because just moved and trying to get settled and don't have a scanner, etc. yet...but thought i'd drop by to check out your images...this one has excellent DOF,nice lighting and good position of your Daddy (who is a handsome fellow indeed!)his hand is a bit distracting and i think would be a stronger image without it, but if a candid shot, then you didn't have a choice..regards, gayle in the other WA.
