I like the idea and really enjoy the way you captured it. I think the image could be improved by increasing the distance between the main light to eliminate the vignetting that is occurring in the lower corners of the image. As currently seen the strong shadow competes with the smoke for the viewer?s attention. By diffusing the light you will create a softer, cleaner looking shadow that will accentuate the image. You can also use a white reflector to bounce light onto the shadowed area of the ashtray, which will open-up your shadows and further soften that shadow.

Love the shape of the smoke - congratulations on the lighting - superb - where was the other light source positionedso as not to highlight/shadow the subject - but get the smoke evenly - if not brilliantly - lit?
