Hi Peter,

Glad to see a beautiful picture made by another Dutchie.

Kennemerduinen?

Sorry folks, just a Dutch chat with a fellow country man.
Have to see more of your pics, just glanced at them and I think they're beautiful.

nice shot of this beautiful city. i'd probably crop the left side a bit-maybe take that whole tree out. i think that would give it a more balanced look. i think the colors look good.

The quality of the picture is great however I do have an issue with the cropping. The image does not seem to be balanced. Good try!

This is indeed a typical scene depicting Amsterdam. In that it is an excellent cityscape.
Cropping out the tree and/or the cars would remove much of what tells someone who knows the city that is is indeed Amsterdam.

Aszal, it's not overexposed. That's the kind of light you get here on a bright winter day, extremely harsh and white.

The tree on the right is what distracts me from the good scene. I keep saying to myself "get out of the way." BTW, did you select the project right? I'm not seeing anyone (yourself) in the picture.

overexposed, with washed out colors.
I think cityscapes have to be one of the more difficult sujects to get even halfway decent at. There are too many things happening all at once and human induced chaos results in many a roll being wasted(i have tried and tried and havent had one shot i could call a keeper-all of my pics really suck!!)
its all in finding the angles, and finding a way to incorporate all those jumbled elements. A studio shot or even a landscape are much easier to tackle i feel.
keep at it
cheers

I like the reflections, the soft muted colors and the composition in general....but, imo, it would look better with the cars on the left and right cropped out.

You got a good shot there, the train and the cars on the right hand side are a small irritation, but nothing more.
Keep shooting and posting, well done.

Peter,

I keep looking at this shot and keep thinking "Man this would really look great in black and white." The grain of the wood and the shine of the chrome on the compass would really stand out in a slow black and white film. I would love the chance to do this. The framing is great!
Later my friend,

Russ

As a frequent visitor of Amsterdam Central Station I know how hard it is to make a beautiful picture of it. Because let's be honest, it isn't all that great (except for the building itself). I do think you are on the right track here. Somehow you've created a certain feel here that I like.

This is a good face. I like the slight lean towards the camera (or the camera towards you). Lighting, color, and DOF are perfect.

It's a nice landscape, but it shouldn't be listed in the "Pictures of Our Members" category. At least I don't see you in the shot.

Peter - Great Shot! I just knew this had to have been taken in the Netherlands! Our middle daughter lives there and we visit her usually twice a year - and I spend most of my time taking pictures of your wonderful country - very photogenic!

There are some things that I would change with this photo... there seems to be a green tint on your subject, which flash fill would have helped to give the woman a more flesh toned face. As well, we see her profile, and I really would have liked to have seen more of her face, instead of her side. This next point could be my computer, but the image seems a little out of foucs.
Now, on an up note, I like the framing and the location looks very interesting... do you have any photos of the location?

think you misunderstood 'pictures of our members' project..all your pictures are posted under this project.., it means a picture of you...not those taken by you

Nicely composed, and having her fill the frame adds to the image's impact. Her intense stare is chilling...wonder what kind of hardships she's endured in her lifetime.
