i LOVE everything about this shot... the textures, colors of age and detail are amazing, perfectly exposed... great 'grunge' shot, perfectly composed.. it's a winner IMO! This is a type of shot that I very much enjoy viewing.. thanks for capturing and sharing it!

Hello David. It is an interesting scene, with a good management of light. Colours are subdued, and I do appreciate the mixture of textures. Composition wise, I'd say you have chosen a good point of view, allowing you to frame a triangle in the background, but there's an issue with the man's positioning. He's hidden by the shadows, hence not explicit. Then there's the difficulty to understand the scenery. What are you trying to tell us? You've set a context but what story would you like to go through? It is difficult to establish a link between the man with a tie and the environing ruins. Either we should see his face (because a face usually tells a million stories), or you should lead our interpretation by writing a resumé in the "about". It's nice, but I'm wanting more... hope this helps.

Cheers

Not so peaceful if taken from the front of a train David!

Nice composition and the sepia toning work well.

Hi David, I think your idea has great potential. My suggestions would be to move closer to the rocks to give a stronger foreground and so as to get water blurring around them during the slow shutter. Also tilt the camera down so that the horizon is at the top third of the frame. It is a good shot as is only giving suggestions as its C.Corner. Regards, Collin.

I'm surprise that a photo for which you ask for a critic, has none of them... I found that you shot is well captured with the well managed light from the sunrise. Colors are great, and tones too. But somthing is missing in MHO. I think that the pov would be better il the width than in the height. THis is my feeling.
Anyway this is a nice shot.

Hi David,

The contrast may be a bit too fierce for the usual subway atmosphere (at least going by what I know of subway shots), and the image is slightly tilted toobut the primary subject in the reflection of the mirror is just great - a very creative touch. Excellent shot.

Cheers,

Hugo
