a good shot here wez. i do think some of the flotsam could be cloned out to make it a bit cleaner though (the tire is fine i think). on that note, i have a very similar shot which i will upload with this comment for comparison. mine was shot at ISO 800 though and is grainy (forgot to switch the ISO back from night photos previously).

i've always thought of travelling to maldives, this photo enhances my desire more.

the fisheye effect is quite nice. is the vignetting due to use of the fisheye or did you add that in later?

i like the colour one better, but it looks a little overexposed in the background in a few spots. the model looks nice as well.

nice that you have a theme (kids/people) and stuck with it throughout many of your photos.

nice idea here. i would suggest putting a black frame or something else around the edge just to keep the image separate from the white background of the UF website.

hi mark. i missed this one previously.

you're right in that mao isnt talked about much these days, and capitalism/free enterprise have really taken hold in china now. in fact, its not often one will see an image of mao in many places, at least i havent noticed it anywhere recently.

tong li is outside of suzhou, and near shanghai if i'm not mistaken? i've never been there myself and didnt know they still used pedicabs up there.

its a good image overall.

Not a bad effort. It appears a bit blurry in places though. fireworks are not easy to shoot, i've tried it a few times myself and never been pleased with the results.

This is one very good panda photo. I was lucky to just get a glimpse of one of them while in Chengdu, you seemed to be extremely lucky to see this show. May i ask exactly where you saw these pandas? Well done. James

i think you should have tried to capture her entire right hand. if you had managed that, this photo would be excellent. still nice as it is, the woman herself is quite attractive as a subject. DoF is very good as well.

may i add, i think because of the brightness of the sky here, a dark border/frame around the photo would be nice to see. would separate the white in the clouds from the white space here on the UF site.

i have not been to yuanyang but i do want to see the place before long. very nicely captured here, the clouds are something i was hoping for at the dragon's backbone rice terraces in guangxi but didnt see last time i was there.

that is indeed thick cloud cover. well done.

again, another fine shot from antartica. The colours are really unbelievable.

I have a desert photo in my portfolio that is almost identical to this one, only the environment surrounding the photos is different. antarctica is really nothing more than a frozen desert, so its no surprise the similarities.

Incidentally, I just watched chinese news and heard about a Chinese expedition at the highest point (2000 m) doing some research.

Keep up the good work Tim.

Hi Tim. There are still going to be many places in China that will remain unaffected (for the foreseeable future) by the ongoing and rapid development of the country. The key is just to find out where they are and go there.

At the moment, I'm on an extended vacation (6-8 weeks), I'm just having a hard time figuring out where to go.

Best wishes ~ James

Tim, i was thinking of the X-Files episode "Dod Kalm" when I saw this photo. Not sure if you have ever seen it but this image invokes the same kind of mystery in my mind.

More closely to what you've written, I can forgive people 50-100 years ago for their actions. No-one could really foresee the state of the planet today. Now we all need to do something to improve conditions, but as long as some people think others arent doing anything, then i understand why nothing seems to be happening in protecting the planet.

one thing we ought not to do is invade antartica (and the far north) and start plundering whatever might be there.

hi mr tanaka... you did a really nice job on this one. the variety of colours on display here are hard to find anywhere else i imagine. i havent been lucky enough to see such colours in china yet. in the new year, hopefully. again, nicely done.

Nice shot tim. its hard to gauge the size of that wall of ice, it could 10 metres or 200 metres. very interesting to see this.

this is the kind of junk i dont mind seeing left around. its a wreck, and you can find them all over the world, and people pay to see them, in particular divers. this one would be very interesting to have a look at, and i'm curious what happened to the crew of the ship after it was beached. this photo is intriguing for that fact alone.

Another outstanding photo. The scale is really hard to believe, makes us realize just how insignificant we are in this world. Well done Tim.
