I think that for such an image this is the best possible quality, Nikki! Any kind of quality in the traditional sense can only diminish the impact that it has as it is now. I'd say that the visual continuation of the hands is the only small negator of that impact here - imagine them both "swimming" in darkness without any reference to where they start from.

But still the restriction of the color palette and the hard grain generate a spectre of theatrical reality. Much like an a minifestation of a scene of an independent label theater play, where the plot is generated in mind rather, than on paper. The very hard contrasts helped a lot for that.

I don't know if the inclusion of both hands is good. Perhaps one would be better. That has to be tested, I guess. But one thing is already negative to me, and this is that ring! Get that off! It introduces an element of reality that breaks the otherwise very strong consistency of the absurd.

Now, could there be a continuation for that? A face? Or a whole human being?

Cheers!

Nick

Hey Nikki, great photo, i think this is the best from the glowstick series as it isn't as cramped as the others, there is more room for the eyes to wander, using a low quality camera may have a beneficial effect in this situation, i think the grainy effect adds something to the photo, great snapshot!

I guess the photo turnt out alright, considering that it was taken using a disposable underwater camera, which I then scanned to upload.
Cheers, Nikki.

Hi Nikki,
A very original attempt.
Some part of the image is slightly over-burnt ( the white caps)
n the title is not doing justice to the subject matter I guess.
All the best.

The background on the right hand side is somewhat distracting I guess too... I guess with a bit of editing through photoshop that could be fixed....

Thanks. I figured I should remove the other objects (twigs etc.) from the frame, to stop any distractions from the subject matter, and to also neaten up the image a bit.

Hmmm.... I see... The shadow part looks better darker... I don't know so much about the background. Thanks. I see what you mean about the threshold adjusting.
Regards, Nikki. :-)
