It would seem that I've unwittingly offended Mr Smith by sending my reply directly to him. I simply said that I don't always take myself or my work too seriously and that sometimes I just like to have a little fun with Photoshop . I thought the sunset was rather lovely, God awful seems a bit harsh. Anyway, as he asked, here's the image without the Disney look. MikeB

Actually Dave the honesty was prompted by Kathleen's comment.

I've not used the 'About' box much in the past because I tend to be more interested in the visual quality of image than how it was achieved. But I can see that in some cases it makes for a more interesting contribution. I'll be more forthcoming in the future.

Since there is some interest in this technique I'll post another similar image with a more detailed description of how it was done.

Best regards - Mike

I've had a look at it with a touch less magenta in the highlights Toni, it cleans them up a bit and I think it improves it. I also added a little to the shadows. - Mike

I like this image , so fresh and simple.

In answer to your question about my shot of Stonehenge, it is in Wiltshire in England.

I like this very much Bjorn, I've become quite addicted to blur lately. I think it would have been better to have avoided including the fence (?) in the background.

In answer to your question about my chestnut picture, it was shot indoors using daylight from a window with a reflector to open up the shadows a little.

Best regards - Mike

This is a very nice picture Irenka.

In answer to your question concerning my picture, Taj Dawn, the sky was added from another transparency but has not been altered other than by slight changes to density, contrast and colour to help it blend.

I do like this image Chris, very strong.

Thanks for your comment about the castle pic. The sky was added as the original was a rather boring plain blue. I'd have liked to have seen and shot it the way it is now, but there you go.

This is a very nice image Craig. In answer to your question concerning my image, Fantasy Landscape, the foreground is a curious, but natural rock, I came across in Capitol Reef.

This was a shot of ripples on the sea, almost monochrome on the tranny. I made a copy layer in Photoshop and altered its size and shape using Edit/ Transform and then experimented with the blend modes until I achieved this result.

I created this effect in Photoshop Keith by making a duplicate layer of the original. I then desaturated and inverted it to make a black and white negative and set the blend mode to Difference.

I move the camera Marion and vary both the speed and direction of the movement and the shutter speed until I get the effect I want. This is a combination of two images.

I shot two imagesof foliage using a slow shutter speed while moving the camera in a preplanned way. I then combined them in Photoshop using Blending Layers, making adjustments to the levels and colour saturation until I got the desired effect .
