Many thanks Nicole for your kind words! We had just finished feeding two other Orangutans when he turned up - so I guess he missed out on a snack (that always makes me sad!)

Hello Rajib - I used a 300mm, I think the iso was 200 F5.6 at 1/1600 - but as I said it metered for the sky - so I would probably shoot about 1/1250 or even 1/1000 if it was as bright again.

Many thanks Nicole for your kind words! This photograph was taken just down the road from a place called Nefyn - I am going somewhere with this... In the US album chart at number 4 is an artist called 'Duffy' and this is where she is from - Beautiful!!!!

Mark - simply wonderful! well done, you were there totally at the right time, the light is fantastic it brings in beautiful tones and detail a lot of which would never normally be seen! I guess you had to hide behind one of the pillars so as not to get your shadow in the shot too... Excellent, well done!

Hi Mark- Well I would have to disagree with Debra's comment about the post, what makes a photo like this work is the querky elements, such as a lone post (or even a Style that you can walk around) I think you have captured the light perfectly too, I guess a moment later and the scene was completely different through the lens. Superb! You should be well chuffed - a great addition to any portfolio.

Hi Nicole, the composition is lovely, and the tone from the sunset/evening sky is spot on, adds a real warmth to the shot. My only suggestion would have been to have tried it with a hint of fill in flash just to light up a bit more detail on the dark side of the brides face (this is purely a personal thing) I feel it would have just knocked out a bit more of those harsh tones. Other than that I think it is fantastic.

Hi Ilker - many thanks for your comments, I did use a flash (the SB800 - awesome piece of kit) As for the crop, I guess I was more interested in the central part of the fly rather than the legs (after all they are very thin...) As for the shadows, that comes down to personal preference, I didn't want the midtones of the shadows to detract from the delicate colours around the middle of this insect. I have to say though - It is REALLY ugly! Many thanks again - Chris

Hi - Can someone please tell me why the colours are so dead when I up load sometimes? This photo should be a LOT more vibrant in tone - much richer reds for example... Any suggestions would help... I will email someone the original and they can see how dead this looks in comparison. Many thanks - Chris
