I like what you say Lara. Almost everything that you can do with Digital Editing is stuff that has always been done with normal film and darkroom work. The only difference is that now it is a lot easier and quicker to do.

Well, sure it's manipulation, but I think photography has ALWAYS been about manipulation. I mean, even choosing how hard the paper you print on is manipulation.

I think your post work is subtle, and does not in any way detract from her beauty. This is a strong shot. I'm sure you are proud of it.

I am not sure if those small adjustment really would constitute serious manipulation, but I do not really know either. I do know that the model is striking and the light is very nice. The off center image works very well. A for the day!!
Be well, Stan

Excellent action shot, Ian! I like the way you've caught three out of the four in midair, and the expressions on their faces are priceless.
Dave.

Thx Stef. I do have a bit of a thing for sports photography. This was actually form one of my first 'jobs'. SWD Cricket want me to take photos of all their matches this season. Still waiting for payment, though...
And I do agree with you about the face. I did walk round to the otherside of the field, but then the players were a bit silhouetted against the light and i struggled to get the right exposure. but next time, I'll be their for the whole match, so I have some more time to try some new things (I only managed to catch 2 or 3 hours of this match before it ended).

Hi Ian,

Good shot! Quite a difficult one to do but this came out quite good! You seem to excell at the sports photography. Just one little thing, with sports photography you always want to see the subject's face, so if you took this from the other side, it would've made an even better shot. Well Done!

Groete,
Stef

Excellent shot Ian!

Just one little thing. The sevens captain is Neil Powell(in front). MJ is the guy right at the back on the righthandside.
But an excellent shot.
Well Done!!

Groete,
Stef

Fine balance - well constructed image - colours are vibrant - you could have photoshopped the distracting background out if you felt like it - great sports shot - hope you can use it to pay the rent one day
