Nice post work of the framing of the brush strokes around such a peaceful image. We see winter coming this way in Montana as well. Nice details and sharpness in this beautiful scene!!

Thank you for taking the time to offer up a constructive critique. It is much appreciated.
For me the foreground was important in order to show that the desert is not just sand but includes a lot of scrub grass mingled with the sand and never gave it a second thought. Your comments have made me think however in a different crop for the picture and I will experiment with different views.

I like this, a different view of a well known subject. I would like to see a crop of the foreground, though, which would add a panoramic touch, too. There is plenty of objects near and far to establish the depth of field, and there isn't much of interest in the bottom 1/3, tonally or otherwise....

Great intense foreground color. Nice POV of such a great place. The smoke does really add to the skyline and sulfer like colors.

Portra was an unusual choice of film for a landscape, though I've used it myself to good effect in the past for the muted colours. And fantastic colours you've achieved here in what looks like the golden hour. There appears to be some digital noise visible in the background mountains, maybe an artifact from sharpening?
