What a wonderful array of steps, passageways and doors. A great range of tones in what must surely have been difficult lighting conditions.

Must be one of THE classic views of Hadrian's Wall, immediately recognisable. Nicely toned, bringing out the detail right across the image.

What a brilliant find! I haven't spotted this, but will now always be on the lookout until I come across it...

You have a wonderful eye to pull an abstract out of this scene. Striking, original and assured.

Thanks Bryan. The range of opinions on this is quite entertaining (though not unexpected) - thanks for being on the thumbs-up side!

Thanks Gary. Interesting observation - the sky has not been treated any differently from the rest of the image. But in the original version it is very flat and the clouds are hardly visible.

Thanks Susie. And it's exactly that - the light and lines - that I felt were lacking in the "normally" processed version.

Thanks Tony. Funny thing is I initially preferred this to Chrysler, but decided to post Chrysler first. This one has generated much more diverse opinion.

Presumably some sort of bulk freight loading device - how strange to have positioned passenger carriages beneath it! Great contrast between the green foreground and blue sky, the two separated by the line of carriages.

Again, I like the wide tonal range, and the drama is really brought out in the B&W. This image has a high impact. (And that is/was a fascinating vehicle!)

Certainly caught my attention. There's lots of great stuff here, but overall I'm just not quite sure what to make of it.

I like the high tonal range, but wonder if it would be just as powerful in B&W. Not sure about the vignetting, although it does balance the dark foreground. And the nature of the photo suggests it should perhaps be exactly centrally placed in the image.

Hope you don't mind me expressing my thoughts.

This dog is very elegant, and contrasts well against the background, despite the similar tones and "busyness".

What a strange construction! The low point of view adds great strength to this image.

Thanks Gary. You have identified exactly what caught my eye in this - I rather like the "painted" effect. But I am well aware that it is not to everyone's taste, and I have read in various places that those new to HDR tend to overdo the effect in their early dabblings.

Over saturated attention seeking? Wow, that's quite tough! I do agree that it is not "true" HDR in that it was derived from a single image, but it was created using a true HDR procedure. Thanks for your opinion, Riny - we will miss you here.

No style? Then how come I can spot your work immediately without reading the name of the artist?

Thanks Ray - I appreciate your opinion, even if you are only a "novice"! I think this one is likely to generate more love/hate reactions than the previous one because of the style. And on the subject of blurriness, I have checked the original and it does indeed look fine. (But I am of course grateful when such things are pointed out, so that I can check that everything is OK and make improvements where necessary.)

Thanks JD. I had not spotted the blurring and noise - I must go and check the processing again as I should have been able to avoid this. As regards the over-saturation, yes, I am aware that newcomers to HDR tend to overdo this, but I had to get it out of my system! As you say, it's largely a matter of taste, but I promise I won't upload too many of this style...

Wonderfully curves and shadows, turning this into an abstract landscape. Our photographic paths seem to be diverging - here you're heading towards softer B&W abstracts while I am exploring the greater detail of photo-realism...

Now you are becoming seriously creative! That is a superb concept, with an echo of the shapes of the flower in the smoke.

There's a fabulous depth in this landscape, from the vegetation in the foreground to the mountains in the distance.
