Thank you Markus. How have been your Holidays ?

Golden waters may look good on a screen, but I wouldn't drink it nor take a chace in swimming in it either.

I should talk about my new jobS. First I'm working on the conception and implementation of a continuing education program for college level teachers in pedagogy. My focus is on the integration of IT. I have worked on the analysis of competencies in this field, and from there have designed an integrated set of courses. I also have scenarioed and experienced some of these courses. At the same time, I collaborate into an online courses offer based on the concept of rapid and light e-learning. This is 3 days a week. For the remaining 2 days, I manage a small research in the form of a metasynthesis of conclusions drawn from experiments of IT integration into college courses : what works and what doesn't. This has draw me into the wrinting of articles and the giving of lectures. And to top it all, I've been reworking "Copilote". You remeber that piece of software that helped teachers in the analysis of their content matters and the production of self-asessment material for their students. The software is now obsolete, but not the methodology. We have found that CMapTools, a java based programm developped and distribute by [http://cmap.ihmc.us/], is able to incorportae the basic principles of our methodology. I have been involved in the deployment of that software for the college level teachers of Québec.

Well, Don, this first snowfall should have happened a month ago.
Thanks for the suggestion. I thought of a square cropping, but I've chosen to keep the path pointing into the lower right third. A bit empty though, I got to admit.
Here's one I took a few minutes before :

Thank you. It's beauty is maybe something exotic - but then not bacause even though winter and snow are part of me, at 59 I still feel the exictment of a kid when the first signs of them fall on us.

Thank you Shirley for your kind comments. Fluffy snow it was - large damp flakes and faint wind. A magical moment.

Sweet action Christian! I tried this with some
twigs once but the effect did not come out this good. Trees maybe would have been a better subject. I like that technique for getting a fuller shot sometimes when needed to fill in
sparse areas.
Fantastic work Christian!

Ohhh Really a great effect Christian! I love it!!
Stunning composition and action in the water!
Very good on the depth of field and stunning lighting for the capture!

Congrats Christian!

Ps......I'm very impressed with the awsome images in your portfolio. Don't be in a rush to visit mine as Im just getting it started again from scratch! Plus, Ive not the talent you have for this photography. Although maybe one day I can
hold my head up and maybe hear a " Would you take my portrait " now and again! That would be
the tops for me!
Take care and again congrats on the stunning work
Christian!

Thank you Paul. Actually, I was pretty off on the exposure. As the snow was very wet, I acted quickly and had the camera set to P. Consequently, the pictures were underexposed by almost a stop. I corrected them in postprocess. Noise in the shadows was not really a problem, since there are almost no shadows.

She was checking on me and was very alert, though not panicked. I was with my wife, we stopped talking and just went by. She ran straight to yer youngs the second after.

Hi Don. You bet they added a bonus. But let's say the truth : this park is just outside Montreal, on a island just about 20 min from downtown. It's a 30 min drive from home. Deers are almost piling up there. It's a problem 'cause they don't have natural predators, nor are hunted by man. They will not tolerate being approached closer to say 30 feet or so, but they don't really fear humans. So bring in your telephoto (I've got an AFS 300mm I bought used this fall) for a lot of fun. On this day, I was with my wife, back from visiting my daughter and had but the Panasonic DMC-LX1 with me. But I'm pretty happy with it. It can work in RAW mode at reasonable speed, and I like the wide 16:9 ratio.

Well thank you for stopping by. Until snow starts to fall, Nature here looks pretty grim after the first colds have burned all the vegetation.
It was beautiful indeed, but quite soaky as the temp was about 1 or 2 C (around 34-35 F). The snow was all wet and it was sticking to everything. You can see in my various shots the effect of the huge flakes caught in the air.

That is a great capture Christian. I bet it was just a quiet as can be when you took this. The snow sure dappens the sounds. The deer sure stands out with this great background. Don.

Now this doesn't look like global warming?? I really like the mood of this picture. Have you tried flipping this horizontally? Might give the composition a different perspective. Don.

A magnificent tree, indeed like a snowy firework! BTW, take a look at Violetta´s many beautiful willow trees, for instance:

Oh, lucky you! Still no snow where I live. Just read in the newspaper that the beginning of icy winter is later than ... ever! If you consider the beginning to be the day when the Institute of Marine Research starts its daily info, that is. And it probably starts next year ...

Your composition is nice, taking the viewer across the snowy landscape. The deers are a lovely bonus. Beautiful!
