Thank you Stan. The POD made my day even better.

Bill also sent me some other cartoon work to show me what he does.... including the fire lookout test... funny.
He does cartoon illustrations for books, business cards etc. Very down to earth guy.
I saw on the web somewhere, where he was teaching little kids in school how to draw....... the basic kind where you draw three circles to form a bunny........ I recall it was a volunteer effort on his part.
I ought to try and find his phone number and tell him thanx for adding his sketch of The Dutchman to his website.

wooooooooooohoooooooooooo Thank you Robert. Glad you enjoyed this one.
I was hoping that it wasn't going to appear to dark. I guess it wasn't because the POD people liked it. ;)
Thank you whoever you POD people are. Very much appreciated.

Thank you Stan. The Kodachrom 25 didn't hurt either. ;)
For your own interest, I went to the Green Mountain Lookout just north of Christmas Valley.
The fella (Bill Friday) who mans the lookout does pen and ink drawings and cartoon work. He had pen and ink drawings of fire lookouts hung all around his lookout.
I told him about this image of The Dutchman and he said he had never seen a lookout with three legs. I told him I would send him a print of this.
Bill said great, and that he would draw it and send me the original. How cool was that?
Long story short .....years later, I was looking at fire lookout sites in Oregon and came across his lookout information at Green Mountain.

His Lookout information above, has a link to a few of his drawings............ and he had included the Dutchman drawing that he made for me. That really made my day.
He made the sky a stormy one because the star trails did not work well with pen and ink.

Thank you, i amjad. I put the flash inside a yellow plastic flash light housing to diffuse the flash. I hit the flash 3 or 4 times and hoped it would help. I got lucky with this idea also.

Thank you Maja. No such luck. It was February and there should have been some snow at this elevation. I was so happy to even be able to drive to this location.
It was foggy here for the meteor shower this summer. ......ahh, there's always next year. ;)

Thank you Diego. One camera and one tripod limited my chances of success this evening. I felt very lucky upon seeing the results.

Thank you Saad. This was a strange idea I had one night. I wondered what would happen by pointing the camera straight up and shooting a 2 minute long exposure every 30 degrees or so on my camera tripod. It turned out kind of fun.

Lets just say I might have "Fujichromed" the image excessively. It was taken in April 1988, so the alder trees had new leaves. The air had haze and I was trying to eliminate the haze by adding color... too many frustrating tries and this is where I stopped. Image is soft also. Maybe my old tripod, the Kiron lens or simply a heavy trigger finger?

You can see here why I added some color. This is unedited.

Thank you Eb. I took a new photo from the same location last weekend with the same lens to compare the erosion over time. I believe with 400 speed film.
This is an old image, as are most of mine here. The new one at this location will show these three trees are gone now... time has taken it's toll.

Thank you Sajjad for the info. I looked up the wrong telescope and saw a refractor.
I don't know why Antares looks so large in my image. It is only a 300mm lens. Oh well, I am quite happy with this one.

Thank you so much Saad. I only used a 300mm lens for this photo, so I am amazed the that Antares showed up so large.

I have seen your new photos and wow, if I saw it correctly you have one heck of a nice telescope lens. A refractor?
Oh, I would just die for such a high quality scope. I am impressed.
We have fog here way too often, but that makes the night sky so special when it is clear.
Obviously I have done well with my camera lenses for these photos, but with a true telescope and the same conditions............ oh, who knows?
Thank you Saad, I appreciate your comment.
After seeing your recent astro images I will add a playfull one in your honor.
Check it out. ;)

Thank you Saad, I appreciate your comments as always.
Correct me tho if you see room for improvement.................. I know this one was pretty darn good for what it is. ;)
............But on my other stuff, feel free to make your true feelings.
I do not mind critique at all. Critique from others removes my personal memories of the photograph and the emotional experience and replaces it with reality.

I have just one complaint, Saad. I'd love to see more "about"
When using "about", I tend to be excessive and I know it. Many people however make no comments in the "about" area.
I would like to see at least some small comment, even if only location.
Very nice image, but would love a small comment as to what we are observing... it's a big world after all..... ;)
My best to you,
Randy

I see a sign of the times in this image in more ways that one.
Perfect capture, but who will purchase this image for a paid advertisement?
Canon, Nikon.............. possibly Turkcell or Telsim?
Tell me of my humor or should I stick with photography. ;)

Pardon me for being naive Jim, but what is with the curtain thingy? Used during flight sometimes or simply UV protection when the jet is setting unused for lengths of time?

Eb, this is so sharp. Wow is my only critique.
It was repeated what you said about being in the right place at the right time, but in agreement with Jan, the right photographer too.

Thank you jacques.
You are a lucky man. My work has been very slow. I was fortunate years ago to afford those lenses.
Please, when you get those lenses, take a photo of some gasoline and send me a copy so can take a drive to my favorite fog laden hills. ;)

I figured you were going to say that you performed the same PS work as in "sleeping in the sun"
.........and I ws going to say how talented you are. ;)
Kidding, you do some fantastic work.
Funny thing here......... I am drawn to the wonderful expression on her face. Am I normal???

Our beaches do not look like that jacques. We have water wind waves warfs whales, sand surf seals seagulls sea shells and sand dollars and seascapes... but we don't have seascapes of that nature around here. I'm so sad now.
Nice work jacques and enjoyed your #6 reply for more description of the moment.

Saad, this makes me confess something. Every one of my images were shot from a tripod. I don't have rock steady hands like this lady has. ;)
