They appear suddenly in the darkness like a Fata Morgana out of nothing, Gary, and alone for this I must say that you really pressed the presence of the mountains onto the image! I don't know if the trees at the foreground are doing good, but this very fact shows me how strongly your depiction of that mirage absorbes my eyes! The wonderful details of the white peaks are in such a strong contrast to the darker sky and lower regions of the mounts. Like a sculpure marbled on stone that radiates in the night!
Now, could I only see that as a huge poster!!!

Thanks for the comment, Mirek. That's the beauty of photography, or even life in general... what is "wow" to one isn't necessarily the same for another. Congratulations on the award, but to my taste I would consider it an average picture. To my taste the picture is missing a punch or as some call it the "wow" element.

hahaha... well, I did leave (temporarily) though not on that plane... Didn't take so many photo's up there this time due to lack of good weather mostly (well, just too darned cold and windy really). Should be warmer by the time I get back (hopefully).

Dear Gary,
It is really fantastic. i love the color of sky and curving clouds. when i look at the photo i can feel the wind and it's fragile coldness that touches my face.
