Hi
Thanks-I just cut off some black from top and bottom to make it even. A flower this size is easy to get to fill the frame. I really need the f 32 to get this much in focus. You could stack, but I've not had much success at that. It does take some sharpening afterwards to get to this effect.

Hi
These are called Professor de Monsseri. It is a Greigii tulip. We got them from John Scheepers. (you can google) All the flowers are from our garden or elsewhere on the farm. My wife tries to find at least a few varieties of something each year that she thinks will be photogenic. Fall before last we planted somewhere around 1000 bulbs - mostly crocii. Of course a lot of those turn out to be mouse food. It is truly beautiful around here in spring. and through the summer actually. well year round! Thanks for your interest. Enjoy!

Hi
Thanks for your comments. These are more hardy type tulips, rather than fancy ones. It just opened up in the full sun and made this shape- made for an interesting shot!
I can find out the name if you really want to know.

Samim,
Thanks for all your comments! Yes, those are the right specs. I use a small led maglite flashlight for light, so not really light the full 10 secs, but the shutter is open that long. Ask if you want more details.

Ugh! I put up the wrong image - I had one with the bottom little bit cropped out - those are the tops of swings that we sometimes sit on in the summer while having lunch. I'll try to attach the other image. Thanks for all the comments.

Robert,
Thanks for your comment and your time. I actually feel the outline/shape of the bloom is one of its more interesting qualities and hence, do want to accentuate it. The black background seems the best way to accomplish this. However, I understand everyone responds differently to images, and that is fine.
Thanks
Greg

Well, Rose,
I guess you had a slow day :) I hope the pics cheered you up some!. Thanks for all your kind comments. Why do they not have more comments? Probably because I just don't have time to comment much on other folks shots, so they don't feel obligated to comment on mine. I appreciate greatly all who do take the time to express a feeling- kinda why I do it - hoping someone will get a little joy out of it all.
Take care- used to live in Toronto a few years long time ago.
