This is a Common Snipe (Gallinago gallinago). Found in marshes, wet fields, runoff ditches, etc. -- a wet habitat bird. Explosive takeoff speeds, but will sometimes allow you to get close before it bolts. Juveniles/males/females hard to distinguish. Nice photo!

Ray,
Another nice photograph - I like the fact that you got down on the girl's and the cat's level - it give us a different perspective. Most people tend to shoot down on their subjects - instead of getting to the subject's level. Also the photo is framed nicely. My only recommendation is - I would have like to have seen the girl's eyes, that way it gives us the viewer more of a connection. Other than that it is perfect. On a different note I want to say "Wado" (Thank-you in Cherokee) for your support.

Ray,
The photograph is nicely framed. I like the way you threw out the background. Even though the photo is a little soft (proably due to the shutter speed) - the softness really works in this case.

Ray,
This is an awesome scenic shot, just made it one of my favorites. I like the fact that it is in B&W and the reflection in the water with the lite ripple...really makes this image. Reminds me of my time at Ft Stewart and training in the swamps.

This shot really says a lot. People tend to focus on the now. I would recommend that you continue to document the recovery efforts, that would make a nice series. Again a really nice photo.
