About Another of the Trolloween series shot in Fremont on Halloween night. Candid street shot of crowd. Starting with this photo, I'm using a different technique for sharpening scans to reduce the "sharpened grain" look I've gotten with other methods.

Andrew - I used a combination of my own grain reduction techniques (which I'm still working on) and a fantastic sharpening technique dubbed "Smart Sharpening" I just read about earlier today (thanks to a fellow photographer on the net dropping me a message). The link is "http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/smart_sharp.shtml". It's a very straightforward technique that uses a mask and edge finding in conjunction with USM to only sharpen where you need it to sharpen (the edges of object. The way I do it adds a few more steps (image specific).

Nice candid shot catching a great smile on the girl. I dunno what your sharpening technique was, but it sure seems to have worked. The grain is not obtrusive at all. What did you do? I have a lot of the same problems using T-Max 3200 and I haven't found the solution yet.
