very beautiful art piece! charred remains of a tree becam crystals in different colors, shapes and sizes!! as it is the natural process of crystal!! out of focus trees on the beach and waters reflects reducing balance of forests and greens from our present world, gradually!! very nice idea and well take!! a slight crop on top and more darker sky could be a better ver. Best, Bikas

A basically beautiful collection, Alison. The blurriness of the background helps the glass stand out. I do think you need to decide how much of the background is really necessary. I like the composition as it is, but I do think you can emphasize the glass more and reduce the background without removing the information about its context. By blurring the surroundings you've already made the statement that the context is secondary. So maybe think about taking it a step further and reduce the background some more. A little increased contrast would help, too. I've appended a suggestion. Whether you agree with me or not, I still think you've got a very fine photograph.
Steve

I really like this one. The colors of the sea glass are delightful. I like how the blue matches the blue in the background. Excellent composition. Excellent job!

As Dave said Alison, the way you composed it putting the sea in the background, blurred, shows the origin of these wonderfully colored glass.
Excellent depth adjustment my friend, bye,
Khaled.

Mahamed, I used the macro setting to take this photo, here I have attached a copy where I took out some of the background color so that the foreground is more noticable, is this what you were meaning. Alison

Nice subject. I am sure you used a large aperture to isolate the colourful glasses from the bg. But I would upped the contrast by, say 25%, so that the colours of the glasses will be more vibrant and vivid. I wouldn't care what happens to the bg because that's not the subject in this photo. Why don't you give it a try, Alison?

I really like this Alison, it's very beautiful and peaceful. Living on the coast, I have looked many times for sea glass and only have found one small piece...so good job! I send my love.

I need to undo my error, he said blushing furiously, the stand of trees in my last comment are situated on the right and not in the water on the left.....Duh!!! Sorry Alison....Ray

The composition is spot-on for me dear Alison. The dof is superb leaving that stand of trees to the left nicely blurred to balance the main subject. The details and textures in the wood look wonderful and I just love the arrangement and colours of the weather and water beaten glass. Well done to you sweetie, overall this is a most delightful study. Very best wishes as always...Ray

I think the background should have choosen better and you had focused on it and the glasses had not been clear. It is just my idea but your idea is one.

Those are beautiful colors in the glass. The limited DOF allows the glass particles to pop out of the image. Light and details are good.

Hi...the colours and textures of the glass are interesting. But I feel the background is just a distraction. Maybe just a picture of the glass on the log, taken from above or something, might have been nice?

Cheers, Marc
