Peta I too have Adams photographs etched into my mind and I always wanted to take shots like his. I even mention this in my usefilm information. I like this version the best because of the B&W medium. I think that the tonal change from the gray mountain to white fog forward to the black silhouettes of the trees make it a classic look. A strong shot that definitely hits a high mark toward a great photographers’ legacy. Adams has inspired a large number of photographers to become better photographers. Best wishes, Garold

Hi Tracey, thanks for dropping by! I've worked out now after everyone's feedback, b&w is definately a better option for this. You should get there one day its magnificent!

Peta,,,both are really good, but I prefer the color as processed. I would rather the b&w if you pulled some more tonal detail in the shadows. Either way, it's a great composition and very nice light.
Best Regards,,,,,David

A beautiful B&W landscape, Peta. Even Ansell Adams would have been proud of this one. Excellent. Cheers, Ann.

Excellent composition Peta, superb tonal range and contrast - your cropping has certainly given a s ense of the sheer scope of the place. Personally, I prefer the Ansell Adams B&W feel to your colour version.

Wonderful capture, Ansel would be proud. BW is the more dramatic and classic of the two, you chose well.

While the color makes the rocks formations in El Capitan really glow, I would have to "vote" for the powerful impact of the black and white. Excellent shot - as someone else said, Ansel would be proud! Jan

Hi Peta,
Tough choice between the black and white and the coloured version for sure! Very interesting to see how the viewers attention in the colour version shifts away to the background, making the cliff the primary subject in that one, IMO. In that way, I see things slightly different than Roger does.
If the trees in the foreground would've had a bit more colour and details in them, I would definitely pick that one as my favourite. The colours in the wall really add something, but the dark foreground is more distracting than in the B&W version.
I think both are almost equally good alternatives, but based on a personal preference, I'd still select this one.
The whiff of clouds separating foreground and background is, however much stronger in this one, I believe, and that is a great touch, taking the shot out of the ordinary, and making it stand out. Very good photo.
Cheers,
Hugo

wow is National Geographic waiting for you? Great wildlife landscape: the rock's texture are just incredible (it would be interesting see it in color) and the fog beside the tree is the masterpiece's touch... 7/7 oops, i see it now in color: wonderfull

Mmmm. The colours are nice but I think I prefer the B&W. It leaves me freer to enjoy the textures and contrasts...

The color is very nice too but the B&W has the raw power.

As an occasional climber, this is just staggering scenery! Well taken photo - I'm not sure which I prefer: as it stands, perhaps the colour one (just because of the colours in the rock), but if the B&W one were higher contrast with a stronger black, it may look more moody.
...but then it's a very subjective thing, and I like strong blacks in paintings and photos!
Great shot - makes me envious!!
