Thank you Shane, I'm no expert by any means but I used to be an Air Force photographer. My main job was printing B&W images, so, I have a fair knowledge of what a B&W image should look like.
It's all a matter of playing with levels, curves, channel mixer & sharpening. Just to mention a few, but, it takes me quite a while before I am satisfied.
I do quick adjustments to submitted images but if I really like them I will spend hours trying to get them to look the best that I am able.
It keeps me busy and out of trouble in my old age!

Nice shot of this little boy. Good composition and great expression. It's too bad there's so much detail missing in the overexposed area on the left side of his face.

i'm sorry for deleting your other comment, but it only happened because i followed your sugestions and made the photo better. So i took it off and posted it again.
Hope you like it more now, i adjusted the curves to add light and contrast to the photo.
