I don't know how to bring up the contrast, Laura, without throwing the balance of tones out, especially the brighter ones, that might become "blown out"? I walked up closer to the cabin and considered shooting it there, but then I lose the environment of its surroundings. I guess I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. Thanks for taking the time to comment on this, Laura. I am going back over there, maybe tomorrow, and I will make a project out of this. You got me going, Laura. Anson

Hi Anson,
Very nice IR shot. Would you consider bringing up the contrast so that the cabin is more prominent in the image? Or perhaps crop a little more closely around it?

Yes, Robbie, it has taken some fiddling around to get the results I was getting with the old Fuji camera, and I appreciate you taking note of that. No, the 18-35 Canon lense gives no hotspot at any focal length as long as the aperture remains full open. At 18mm that is f3.5. The lighting here was somewhat fortuitous, as the front of the cabin was facing south down the dirt trail. Thanks so much for the encouragement. Anson

Beautiful sepia tones Anson, love the range of lighting captured, the dark front opening into the lovely lit cabin. As though you used the lighting to enhance the main subject. It seems you finally get your groove back!! Robbie ps...Does the 18-35 Canon gives you a hotspot in IR? A friend here having hotspot problems and wants a lens recommendation. Thanks

I have always tried to avoid shadows and light spots in my photos, Toni, but sometimes they seem to work, and you have explained why to me in a way I hadn't thought of before. Thanks for your insight and your sharing. I love your "Autumn Falls" which is a favorite subject of mine. Please visit again. Anson

A-1 capture! I think the tint gives it a vintage, dreamy feeling. The shadows are interesting and almost add movement to the photo in such a way that my eyes keep moving over them trying to pick up the details. It is a very lovely photo. One that I can stare and contemplate for some time.

Where this image was taken today on the banks of the Suwannee River, about 80 km from my home, it was absolutely silent and still, a few bird cries but nothing else. This old cabin stood completely mute too. Not visible, but behind the cabin was a bright yellow and green plot of wild flowers. Thanks for the encouragement, Jo. This picture reminds me somewhat of your eloquent "Brown Sugar". You are always so supportive. Regards to you, my friend. Anson

You are always too generous in your comments, Giuseppe, and yes I am anxious to see your Alpine forest pictures. I saw some of them over 20 years ago and was entranced. Unfortunately, my photo skills were nonexistent then so got no good photos. You will do them justice, I am sure. My best to you. Anson

The comment is: beautiful! I love this images made of lights and shades. The tones are infinite. I am going to post some picture of lights and shadows in the forests of the Alps, but no one has this charme. I take it home with me, thanks. Cheers.
