Joggie, I like the curtain of clouds that soften the hard transit from the cold white/blue area and the warm green hill.
Take care.

First rate landscape, Joggie! Much additional interest is generated by the snow, clouds. I am not bothered by the horizon line as this is generated by the cloud or fog layer against which it is contrasted.

Do you know what....this shot looks better either as a thumbnail (6 x 4) or as a large A1 poster size....but its always good to read some real comments on one's work...cheers

I can see what Manu is saying about the 'hard horizon line', Joggie. Of course it's not your fault that it's there but it might have been better to have placed it in the lower half or upper half of the frame rather than halfway up. Better still, I think a portrait mode of the right hand side might be the stronger image.
Plus point - the snow is well exposed - and it's still better than the majority of the landscapes on usefilm, including my own.
Regards, Gary

Hi Manu
Thanks for the honest reply - appreciated. I can assure you this is the way it appeared - there is some dead space between the green horizon and the mountains in the background, giving rise to a sharp horizon with no gradual blend into the distance. It may be personal perception but thats exactly why it appealed to me in the first place - I think a lot of the impact is lost through the small size of the upload though. Actually the whole scene is a bit extraordinary since we had good rains with lovely greens this year before the snow arrived - giving the scene a different touch. I took several shots which I will upload in time. Thanks again for your time.

Hi Joggie

Here are my feelings:

The location is obviously very dramatic in real life but this shot neither says "green lowlands" or "mountain range". It has the appearance of two shots cropped together or over-retouched...that hard horizon line kills the whole shot.

Difficult image to get right if this is what it looked like to the eye at that moment. The other irritation is that I don't have any idea where to start making it a more memorable shot...how frustrating....you may have to give me some time on this one, Joggie.

Thanks for the opportunity to be "frank" and cheers for now

Manu

A well done landscape, Joggie! Very interesting how the clouds are formed around the mountains, a great colour on the foreground plains.

Great photograph, it looks so green much different to your other photographs, a complete contrast with the snow capped mountains
