Thank you Sal! I got my inspiration to do a shot like this from an image I saw a long time ago. I wish I had more knowledge of this sort of thing but I don't remember the artist name. I believe it is fairly well known. It is of an old car in a city park or something but it is very foggy and mostly all you can make out is the street lamps and the headlights. Looks like 1930's??
Anyway, I appreciate your comment! Thanks again and Happy shooting!

Thanks Nick! I spent a lot of time planning this shot but in fact I still got very lucky. This was in my old back yard where I looked at this tree everyday thinking how it would one day make such a great image if I only had some fog to cover the distracting middle ground. One morning it happened! I grebbed my camera started shooting and ended up being a little late to work! :)

Just a few tones, just a few objects, and all of it kept in that strange fuzzy look of the fog. It conveys the mood very much, and it is enhanced by the leading lines to the depth, especially as they seem to disappear slowly, But above all I consider the two shadows of trees, just visible between the tree in the foreground and those in the background, to be a very strong element here, that makes the fog feelable. And not to speak about the tree in the forground that jas become but a black silhouette that just "flows" into its surroundings. Very atmospheric and also very carefully done, Wayne!
Best wishes,
Nick

Thanks for the reply Annemette! Seems to me you are very wise! I agree, our images are a stop in time, a captured moment, something we can share with everyone and give them to think about and feel. As for the work/luxury part, I can only hope it comes sooner than later. :) Don't get me wrong though. I enjoy working. I just dont like working 70 hours a week to reach so called success. I only want to be able to spent time with the people I care about, enjoy my hobbies and work a reasonable schedule. Thanks again, for sharing your wisdom and I hope to chat again with you in the future! -Wayne-

Hello Wayne,
A deep, but o so true thought. It combines perfect with your serene beautiful and moody landscape. B&W is the right choice here. The view is so nice, I like the composition a lot. Excellent expression of the foggy morning. Simply great tones. A breathtaking view. Poetry and images go well together, if carefully selected as you did. Compliments, my friend !
Wish you and yours all the best, Albert Jacobs :)

Yes, time slips away faster and faster the more we try deperately to win time. Efficiency has indeed not brought us any more time. People just run faster and work more during both day and night having cellphones and mails coming in demanding their attention 24/7. Nevertheless I´m quite certain that work will become an access, something as a luxury in the near future due to the development which demands sth. else from people. That they don´t "kill time" by working, but need to find hobbies to occupy their time with. I already see this happening and it leads to people being occupied with doing voluntarywork, so maybe this will lead to something good after all. Basically we should hold on to childhood, ceasing the day and not being able to plan two years ahead:-)I think that our photos is a way to hold on to the moment, to treasure what we see and feel and also to share with each other, to bring smiles, melancholy and thoughts. Take care. It´s a joy getting to know you. Annemette

Annemette, Thank you so much for finding meaning in my poem!
The secret to life is time!
In yester years and in many places today there are people who have nothing yet have everything! They don't know what a television is, or a computer, or a telephone, or even a car! They don't have "things" they have each other. Just as important, they have time. Funny, they may not even live past the age of 40, but they have lived much longer than most who are 80. We have surrounded ourselves with "convenient things" and yet they have only made our lives harder. Todays computer for instance could cut service/production times down to a 10th if it were used 30 years ago but instead greed saw oppertunity for more money in a day. The consumer is just as guilty, including myself, If I order something online from Thousands of miles away I still expect it to get to my door in 5 to 10 business days. If I were to tell this to someone from 30 years ago they would think I was crazy and laugh in my face! Today, though, it is a standard expectation. Life is so very short once you really think about it and "time" is more valuable than any amount of money. As you have stated: "Time with a friend, a smile from a stranger, a work of art, a new idea, or a beautiful view of creation" They ARE all Priceless! I only hope that I can live by my own words and run far away from this world we have created and return to the one that was intended to be. Each new day I awake I will be reminding myself that time for a cup of coffe with a friend, time cooking dinner for my mother, time for a quality conversation with my fiance and time to speak with my creator are all paramount to anything else there could ever be.
Thank you so much for taking the "time" to reach out and make a new friend! --Wayne--

Thank you so much Marian! I am glad that you found interest in my poem. To be honest it's the only one I have written in about 12 years! I am still a young man at 30 but when I was younger I had a dream to go out and be successful. I also grew up very poor. Since then, I have worked my self crazy trying to get to the "top" and I have made it. However, I have found that the sacrifices it took to get here just aren't worth it. I am hoping to start a buisness soon and be happily humble. If it kicks off and makes me a few extra dollars then great but I will no longer substitute my time with family and friends for "success". I just hope I can reach out to people and help them avoid the same mistakes. Thanks again for the kind comment!

Suitable words to make us appreciate each other much more instead of this neverending race after wealth and shallow things. A good friend, a smile from a stranger, a beautiful or intriguing piece of art, a new idea, an old tree in the mist are all priceless. Take care Annemette

Hey Alain! Yep, I wrote it. Glad you find meaning in it as well. I would love nothing more than to have the time and the "tent" to go shooting landscapes all the time! :) Soon enough I will quit this job and own a business with a friend of mine. More time for family friends and myself! The "me" time will be spent taking photos. I can't wait! Thanks for the encouragement my friend!
