An image of my son at the Beach last Fall, running up the ramp to the boardwalk. Yes, I intentionally shot it so his head would not be visible. The image is more about the movement up the ramp than about the person.
I'm interested to hear your opinion: some people love this and some hate it. I have a print of this on my wall at work and it gets a lot of attention and double-takes.
Excellent contrast between the sharply defined textures of the wood, and the blurry passage of Charles. The anonymity of Charles in the composition also bridges the gap between the specific (Charles in that place and at that time) and the general (a picture about movement and texture). Thanks for posting this.
The grain of the wood in B&W are wonderful in and of itself. The diagonal lines of the composition are quite nice. But the headless boy is a bit distracting. Cropping him out would be an improvement. The
Count me as one of the ones that likes it! Very cool idea, and it definitely conveys a sense of motion as well as one of mystery. I find the edge-on board at the top to be somewhat distracting - maybe a crop to just below that would keep the focus on your son. Really nice photo!
