Wow, thanks Robert, that was really nice of you! I'm going to go out and try some more shots today.

Cheers,

Ben

Ben,as promised this is my recommended Ir shooting technique. The Canon DSLR & lenses are not Ir compatable as the Nikons of earlier vintage. The D200 isn`t Ir friendly far too much noise.
Shooting setup....
Shoot at least f8 to make allowance for focusing difference between Ir & non-Ir.Low contrast, low Iso to minimize noise,
low or no sharpening,tripod,R72 filter & C-polarizer.Use -ev compensation to control the clouds.Take test shots to determine correct exposure and switch to MANUAL exposure mode.I focus at the beginning of the image and switch to Manual focusing because I normally takes a lot of shots of the same area.
Work flows...

Another excellent one from Sam

My Photoshop CS2 B&W work flow
I normally do a 'Levels' tweak, then Channel Mixer with 'Monochrome' box check.Shadows/Hightlight,Exposure,
Brightness/Contrast.For blurring Gaussian Blur to about 25
Fade.Noise remover.
I manipulated your image and you are on the right track for a first try.
Hope this helps.
Take care
Robbie
Hope that helps.

Very good first attempt Ben but your clouds are blown out.Eperiment with -ev compensation to control the clouds.
I shoot with a IR converted D70.
Gotta run, will give you more tips later tonight.
Take care
Robbie
