About	This is a shot of the twin 8 cylinder Diesel engines powering the Polar Star ice breaker....these are vintage motors made in Poland in the 1950's and have been running every day since. The storage room is filled with spare motor parts but many parts need to be machined on shore because the motor is so old the parts are not available any more.

good shot. the engine room (and the engines) seem small for a ship of that class. i've been in the engine room of some navy frigates in the past and they're a lot bigger.

i see you have a new camera. I was going to look at a D300 as well, but settled for a D200 that I bought in Hong Kong last weekend. I'm sure you'll get good use out of it, as will I.

Very good detail there, Tim, and it's amazing how anyone could make sense of all that machinery! The b/w tones depict the scene very well.
