Ben....so true...so true! I still see things chewed up in my house that pip got to when I had her! It's kinda like looking at a found toy of one of your children now grow up. I still tear up when I go into my bathroom and see the leg of my expensive rattan cabinet all chewed up at the bottom that she got to...."oh well" I say... It's just a "thing" and her love was more precious to me than "ANY THING"

Chelsea, Thanks for the nice comment. Sounds like you understand perfectly! I'm acutally attending an open house at the rehab center in a few weeks where I took Pip. Hopefully they can give me an update on her whereabouts and how she's doing. Wonder if they remember you somehow in their little minds???? Kinda wish I could find out exactly where they took her and be able to go visit to see if she would come running up to me like that "lion" did for those 2 guys from England. I miss her SO much! Take Care!

Oh they are cute when they are young, but they turn into attic eating, powerline destroying, transformer exploding, suicidal demons when they get big... Just ask any power company worker what they think of the lil heatherns... :(

I fully understand it Laura. A few years back I took my dog out one rainy night and found a baby chipmunk lying in a puddle of water in the middle of the driveway. I scooped it up, took it inside, dried it off with soft towels, and held it inside my shirt to warm it up. Wasn't long before the little squirt was revived and looking for food. I had it for a couple of days, phoned the local rehab center and took it down there and handed it over, as they were far more knowledgeable and equipped to look after it properly. Within those less than 2 days I fell in love with the little cutie, he'd run up my arm and paw at my cheek, sat up and pawed in the air for food, nestled into the crook of my arm and fell asleep when he was tired of running all over the livingroom exploring. The adorable little farts just steal your heart SO fast, don't they!

Pip Update 2009. Pip was rehabilitated with a group of 5 other ground squirrels and was released back to nature in January of this year. He turned out to be a she and will (with luck) be a mom sometime this spring. Still missed terribly, I've now adopted 2 baby rats named Ginger & CoCo!

That's awesome work you do! My dad nursed a squirrel that fell when he was a teen and had it as a pet for years. I would love to have that kind of luck. Great photo!

Todd, Thank for the nice comment. Since I turned her over to the wildlife center for rehabilitation 4 weeks ago, I've had such bad "squirrel separation" that I went out and adopted myself a baby rat this past weekend. Reports on PiP are good. She's due to be fully released by February (hopefully someplace warm!) My new baby is named Abby and she's a real sweetheart. ! "once a mom...always a mom" THAT CRAZY CRITTER LADY!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a comment on my sweet Pip. He is truly a blessing as are all of the foster animals I have cared for over the years. I also do baby raccoons, opossums and skunks. Pip is quite a character and loves to come to work with me every day and run up and down my leg till I feed him. He's become our mascot and I will really miss him when he becomes an adult and I return him to his tree to find his siblings. Till now I will enjoy him every day. Take Care Gosia, From your new friend in the USA
