Yep, for me exactly the same, Stan. It's to just look through the other's eyes. Always one of themost interesting but also very human things, I guess.
Wish you the best of the best of times to be always in your life.
Cheers!

Hi Nick, here to please and grow. All comments are a path to seeing through others eyes as well. This was the same day after I got some shots of the Eagles in the tree. This was an out of camera shot with little adjustment. I liked it this way too. I was just trying to play with some canvas and some blur on the frame. Merry Christmas and may the New Year bring you all the joys of life!! I have appreciated you and your comments this year and look forward to more as time goes by. Be well, Stan

Hey, it is much better this way, Stan!
Very very nice looking, especially because the bird and the branches show good contrast, much texture and details in front of an almost "nonexisting" sky, and still it remains very natural with all its touch of "surrealism".
Thanks a lot for showing me!
Cheers!

Thanks Pam, I appreciate you kind words and the good input. I too am trying some tricks I have been finding along the way. Fun to add a little at a time. Do you have family in Colorado or just some fun trips? I have so in-laws North of the Denver area. I have gone there over the last 15 years for reunions and a little skiing. So glad you liked the Magpie. Be well, Stan

Hi Harry, I have a good set of layers I wear and protect bare skin in wind. I have had to put chains on when it is cold. Just do it quick and keep the heater running in the rig. Have a great week. Be well, Stan

Hmmm... I don't know Stan. It looks a bit... how can I describe it... unnecessary and desperately pushing things to be what they aren't. This is the impression that it causes to me.
Cheers!

We can get to -40c with windchill very often. Usually only a few -40 to -20 cold days. Sometimes from now to mid Feb we get the coldest days. I use some wood heat, good windows and insulation. If it is that cold I stay home instead of fighting it. I adjust to being warm and efficient. My pipes are 2.5 m deep in the ground and come up inside the heated part of the house. I keep pipes away from out side walls. It is usually only 20% humidity when it is cold. That helps too. Be well, Stan

How low can it get there , -40 Centigrade ? I saw a docu abt truckdrivers ib Canada transporting stuff from 15 to 50 tonnes of load for the Diavik diamond mines in N Canda, jsut by driving over the lakes. How do you heat your house ? Wood coal, gas, .. ? And never frozen watersupplies ? Cars you have to plug in to electricity to keep the car startable ( i saw that in calgary )

Hi Nick, this was a small crop from bigger image, just felt like doing something freehand around the edge. Thought it looked good with Mr. Magpie. I was standing near another tree but had nothing in the way. Just became! Be well, Stan

I don't really know whether the black frame around the image added something or not, Stan. The details on the branches look OK, the magpie's contours are OK too, so why that black thing around it?
BTW, the magpie looks a lot like a drawing rather than a capture. It is welldefined but not really "photo-realistic". It has much of a quite "schematic" approach. So, wouldn't it suffice to leave the original image as it was? Or did you shoot through some natural hole?
Cheers!
Nick

Thanks Michele, I appreciate the detailed comment. In Montana we joke about this being a Montana Pheasant. These Magpies are protected and are very active scavengers. They love dumpster, road kill, dog food. horse food, and anything they can run into. In the summer they gorge on the grass hoppers we have. They are fun to watch.. Have a great Holiday as well and thanks for the visit. Be well, Stan

Yes Harry, they watch and learn very quickly. They are beyond just being a survivor in nature. They are fascinating to watch on a daily basis. Have a great one today, it is -30c here this morning. I am going to get hay later today if I get my truck started. It is really winter here. Be well my friend, Stan

They have a very good memory. Sometimes I leave some stuff on the balcony for the smaller birds but once the magpie has found it, he will inspect the area for 2 weeks more ..

Yes Wolf, they are very aware birds. We had two Magpie nest in out yard and some nearby nest as well. They hang around my area looking for horse feed leftovers, compost and good grasshopper population in the summer. They are really awesome birds. Be well. Stan

They do survive winters here ( -20 in past ). We call them Ekster and they are smart birds, they look for warm place like houses, barns, chimneys.

Thanks my sweet friend, good to here from you. Have missed your images lately. Thanks for the comment and encouragement. You have a great Christmas as well, I bet it is a lot warmer there than here in the mountains of Montana. It has been in the -30C range for several days. Today the wind came up out of the West, that will warm things up. See you soon. be well, Stan
