WOW!!! No critique... it's absolutely AMAZING shot that one... I am impressed by the way the sea looks like, so calm BUT at once a so big and wild wave and a...lol... poor guy trying to be ....alive against that wild beast named "sea".... perfect... perfect quality too... amazing clarity on the water drops even on that small resolution... what else can I ask from an adventure photo? really nothing... it's 100% excellent job!

Cheers Gord ~ I like your crop too but with a little more room on the left for the kayaker to 'move into' .. I just put up another shot and kept with a fairly wide crop but may change later!

I think I might have cropped it a bit too tight.
Again, nice work!!

Many thanks AJ ~ I was thinking the same thing about the flat sea around him ~ it was strange how these waves seemed to come out of nowhere!

Many thanks for your critique Gord ~ I do appreciate it and did go back and forth trying to decide about cropping this one tighter but also wanted to show the flat water around him and the proximity to the shore so in the end went with the wider crop.. perhaps later I'll try your suggestion :) Cheers, Susie

A fabulous piece of action photography my dear Susie and I can't agree with Gord. The details in the wave and the way it seemingly rises out of a calm sea it's awesome. You can see and feel the high level of concentration in the kayaker's face and body language. Well done to you sweetie a first class piece of work. A great big HUUUUUG and as always my very best wishes to you as well....Ray

Great shot. I would not crop as tight as Gord suggests as I find one of the striking aspects of the image to be the way this single wave rises out of the apparently flat water.

Susie,
Nice shot. One thing that I noticed about this shot was that the cliffs in the background takes away from the subj. For me, a tight crop around the kayaker would draw the eye right to the subj of the shot. Just a couple of thoughts from an amateur photographer.
