"Voladores" do a syncretic ritual with Mexican pre-Hispanic roots, whereby 4 of them fly head-down, tied to their waists, doing 13 turns around a 20-30 m pole (4x13=52, the number of years of the pre-Hispanic century). This ceremony was recently taken to Spain, where 8 "flights" were conducted. This shot shows the one flyer who plays a flute and small drum during the descent. I hope this kind of photo deserves more attention from the community than my recent portrait project.
