About Yesterday it was the squirrel, today the wolf. As God is my judge, I am shooting pictures of flowers and butterflys and suddenly appears this wolf ! I have been trying to get a wolf shot in the wild since day one. I realize the lighting is harsh, its 1:00 PM. but This thing was right there, and would not look at me. Not the best light, not the best pose, but I am pretty excited after all this time. only other shots of wolves have been at Wolf Center, captive animals.

I have absolutely no problem with either the light or the composition! On my screen it looks perfect! I think this shot is superb, in all ways!

Clarity, lighting, detail all excellent, AND you got the eyes. For an "in the wild" shot I'd say this is excellent, and congratulations on the getting a wolf. Only once have I seen a cougar in the wild-- 30+ years ago but I remember it like it was yesterday. Nice shot Jim.

Its great that you were able to get this image of a very elusive animal in the wild.
I live in northwestern Ontario woods and have only seen wolves at a distance or from my airplane in the winter on the lakes with a kill?
The nearest to a wolf that I got was this picture I am including here, looks similar??? This one has a name and lives in the house!
Once again, great capture and its in its natural environment!

Ronnie
I think the insect on his shoulder is a horse fly. they are thick up here in the woods this time of the year. they follow my van around like roadies !When they bite, there is no question, a piece of you is missing.

Congradulations Jim, finally got him. Maybe next time it will be late afternoon, perfect light (remember, light, light, light) and he will have a critter in his mouth with a perfect background. That is what keeps us going, the chance at that perfect image. By the way, is that a honey bee on his front shoulder, just to the right of his nose.
