Donna,
Thanks for your insight on my photo. Yes I did use ambient light and I really like the dramatic feel of it. I was sitting at our dining room table with my In-Laws and they just let me shoot them for about an hour. I hadn't used my camera's Black & White option much but thought that medium would create a more dramatic contrast.

It looks like you used ambient light, which gives an intimate feel. Black and white was a good choice for this shot. Very nice moment.
