Shane,
Most of my astrophotos are taken in the Catskills, about 75 miles away from the city. The skys are not the greatest, but the Milky Way is visible from there on a moonless night. Many of my images require quite a bit of processing to get them to this level. Jerry Loudrigus has an excellent eBook on Photoshop for Astrophotographers that has helped me rescue some pretty "bad" slides. The APML is also a great forum for tips.

This is amazing! I gotta ask, How do you do this with probably the most light polluted skys on the continent?

Rafael,
The red is the color captured by the film, though it was a bit fainter on the film since my exposure wasn't long enough. I am not really happy with my processing of this image as it appears artificial. I am more concerned about the density of stars, as this image should have the Milky Way in the background.

Taras, this picture is beautiful. Did you work the red in Photoshop or it?s natural? By the way, very nice colours.

Well this puts things into perspective. Great exposure and sharpness. The color of the nebula is great.

Excellent pic, Taras, really impressive.
Thanks for your recent comment. However, my camera is restricted to 15" max exposure. I've added a star map to my pic, following your example. Ciao :)

NGC 7000 is always a fine site to see, isn't it. Your used equipment is markable, wow. Saw this nebulae only one time with my own eyes at Baja California desert in 1991 in an (I am not quite sure 8- or) 10-inch-Newton, that a guy from Chicago brought there to observe the total eclipse of the sun (!) with this huge instrument. There is no chance to see or photograph it here from central Germany due to all the damn light pollution.
Clear skies and regards!
