Rhonda, would like you to try the same composition and motive but instead of you measurements, use a -0.5 (With daylight) or +0.5(with artfical light) Aperture opening correction, you will be very impressed by the results.
Yes, i also think next time you should shoot this without flash, if possible use sunlight, it's always the best thing, or at least try enhanicing colors... just that little bit! This doesn't mean your picture is not good, i like it because of the composition and subject! Regards!
