GP, any lack of sharpness here is probably due to hand holding in dim light--in the Costa Rican rain forest I found even shooting my film at 800 was barely fast enough. I don't know about softness in general, except that when I use my 100-300 mm zoom too close to 300, there's a noticeable decline in sharpness. I doubt it's my scanner.

Wonderful color and terrific composition make this a fine capture. However, I would love to have sharper detail on a closeup study such as this. I have a hunch this may be due to your scanning, as I have noticed a certain softness in other images of yours that are otherwise so top notch. Please correct me, if I am way off here... ;-)
