Hello Jim. You got a really nice one here. The beetle contrast nicely against the soft pink of the petals. I would not change the cropping, looks good with the stamens and pistols in the background. Again, nice work Jim.

Hi, Jim. I have to disagree (respectfully) with previous posters who stated the flower should be cropped off the left. To me, who has 'battled' these monsters in her own garden*, the combination of the delicate defenseless flower being munched by the armor-plated (although very pretty) beast is a lovely contrast. It almost tells a story of the strong against the weak.
*Don't crush Japanese beetles, btw; they release a scent that attracts others. The expert I saw on TV said to knock them into a cup of water with dishsoap. (Who says you don't learn stuff here on Usefilm? LOL)
Nice capture Jim. Wish you had gotten the entire stamen.

Very interesting bug on a petal that looks like a pink heart! Wonderful, but for me it would be an even better photo if the left side was cropped off. It's nothing wrong with the left side, I like the out of DOF glurriness of the inside of the flower, but it take the attention from the bug and it's hard to not look at both at same time, so it gets kind of "messy" if you understand how I mean.

Looks like someone is getting a good lunch!...I almost think you could leave out the left part of the flower...since your focus is on the beattle and that is your sharp and detailed part, you really don't need any other distractions...good color and a good capture of that metallic looking shell
